Valentines Dinner

I had a conversation with Ella last night at bedtime that went like this....
"How many more days until we go to Savannah's house"?
"A lot"
"Like how many? After Christmas"?
"Sort of, like after Valentines Day".
"Well, what do we eat at Valentines Day"?
"Lots of candy".
"But I mean what do we eat"?
"Candy"
"For lunch and supper? What do we eat at lunch and supper"?
"Whatever you want I guess"
"Can I have turkey with bones for Valentines Day"?
How's that for a request.....

Thanksgiving 2009

This year for Thanksgiving we got to spend the whole day at Grandma and Grandpa Telega's with Brian, Megan, Jacob, and Elizabeth. We had a great day and a great meal. Here's what all the kids are thankful for this year.
"I'm thankful for....."
Jacob: "Disney Land"
Elizabeth: "Mickey Mouse computer"
Ella: "Going to the Mall of America"
Collin: "mom"
As per usual Collin wins moms heart over! If he keeps this up by the time he is 16 he's going to get anything he wants!! Trouble.
P.S. Scott and Sherry I hope you have been saving your pennies because the kids have pretty much been talking about the mall of america for the last 330 days! :)

Ella and Elizabeth might as well be twins...aren't they so cute!!

With all that said, we truly are blessed and thankful this Thanksgiving for our family and friends!

Goalie

Tonight they had an Intro to Goalie Clinic - for kids who just wanted to give goalie a try. Collin wanted to go so bad. I think he was the littlest kid there, but he did really good. He was even able to move around in all that gear and get up and down pretty fast (although he has had a lot of practice at getting up and down :)!! He got a chance to skate around in the goalie pads and even stopped a few shots on goal! After he was done we asked him if he ever wanted to try goalie again and he said "maybe one more time, it was pretty hard". When we got home Ella asked Collin if he had fun playing "goaler"? All in all I'm not sure it's in his blood, but we'll see!

This is Collin getting the goalie equipment on...."where's the sign up for intro to putting goalie pads on"??? It is A LOT of stuff!

You can see how much smaller Collin is than the kids around him

Hockey mom??

While we were at hockey today a kid walked up to me and asked me to help him. Believe it or not I must have looked like I knew what I was doing...anyway, after I helped him he asked me, "are you a hockey mom"? I didn't really know how to answer such a question - I mean what really makes one a hockey mom?? So I said, "I'm a mom of a kid that plays hockey.....", and kind of shrugged my shoulders. So I guess it's still up in the air as to whether or not I'm a "hockey mom"!!

Madelyn 20 months

Finally figured out a way to get Madelyn to sit still....I brought one of the kitchen stools to the backyard! Isn't she so cute!!

Collin's book

Collin wrote his first book. He brought it home from school today. He said he did it all by himself, with no help from his teacher. It is so much fun to watch how much he is learning! Just in case you don't know 6 year old language....sie is sky and wock is walk! Not going to win any noble prize, except maybe from mom!

Fall Leaves

Collin and Ella really had fun in the leaves this year. They were busy raking, piling, and of course jumping. We had the added bonus of the swings this year. So they piled all the leaves and jumped from the swings into them! They also had a lot of fun helping Bjorn rake and get all the leaves into garbage bags - especially sitting on the bags to squish them down. Madelyn on the other hand wasn't too sure of the whole thing. She wanted to jump in them, because all the big kids were, but every time she went in there she just wanted out! Of course I had to snap a few pictures!!

playing "hookey"

Yesterday my grandpa stopped over for lunch. He asked Ella where Collin was. She said "at school". Somehow they ended up talking about Collin missing school, and my dad asked Ella "if Collin had ever played hookey"? She said, "yeah". We asked her if she knew what that meant and she said, "yeah he does that all the time on the ice with his stick"! It was pretty funny!

stuck

This morning I went in to get Madelyn up and as I opened the door I heard her saying "stuck, stuck, stuck....". She wasn't crying. My first thought was that her leg or something had gotten stuck in the crib. But as I opened the shade she said, "finger stuck". Well how could a finger get stuck in the crib? Then I realized her finger wasn't stuck in the crib, it was stuck in her hair. For those of you who know Madelyn, know that she very aggressively twirls her hair, often times into knots even. Well this was the winner. She had twirled her finger right up into her hair so tight that it was stuck and starting to lose color. Ridiculous!

Happy B-Day Scott

Madelyn is just starting to sing.....so figured we'd take advantage. Happy B-Day Scott!!

I guess blue is not Collin's favorite color....

The other day I opened Collin's folder from school and found this paper blaring at me!! I was a little shocked at first "what are they teaching our kindergardeners??" :) But of course quickly realized that he was trying to write about the s-h-i-R-t being blue. I guess one letter makes a big difference!

Another one bites the dust....

One of Collin's big front teeth fell out. He has been saying for a month now that it was loose, but I couldn't feel it at all. Just the other night at Jake's birthday party he said again that it was loose and I didn't pay much attention, but then he said "look" and he was wiggling it....it was practically hanging by a thread. He was very excited. Sure enough he was in my room the next morning at 6:00 "look mom, look!!", with a tooth in his hand. He said "I tried to wiggle it out last night but it hurt too much, and then this morning I wiggled it with my tongue and it just fell out!" He was VERY excited to learn that the big front teeth are the tooth fairies favorite, so he got a little extra money.

Halloween 2009

Halloween 2009. Collin and Ella had a blast. The weather was not great, cold and 40 degrees. But they did not care. They trick or treated their little hearts out!! Even Madelyn was a trooper. She was a little nervous on the first house. But she got up the courage to go up to the door with some encouraging from mom and the promise of candy!! When the lady handed her the candy and we told her to put it in her bucket - she looked at us like we were crazy people. She looked at the candy, looked at the bucket and then back at the candy. Then she kind of looked at the lady who was still instructing her to put it in the bucket - looked up at me, held the candy out and said "open this"! It was pretty cute. She was a trooper. She was definitely scared of any of the scary stuff so we just skipped those houses.

Little Miss Tinkerbell
Ella was super excited to be wearing sparkly make-up.
Bumble Bee the Transformer.

A Lady Bug.

The whole gang....Collin, Ella, Torin, Cooper, Vaughn, Alaina & Bjorn.

Some video of the kids on Halloween.

Pre-Halloween

Ella really got her moneys worth out of her costume. She got to wear it to dance, and to school. Collin however got pink eye Thursday night and had to miss his big Halloween party and parade at school. I felt so bad for him, he was so excited to go.
